Ghyll Pool is our much loved Lake District retreat and we want to welcome everyone to it and for all our guests to feel comfortable and at home.
Do you welcome dogs?
Well-behaved and friendly dogs are very welcome to our dog friendly cabin. We know that you will ensure your dog does no damage and will clean up as necessary.
Do you welcome cats or other pets
All pets are welcome (well, to be honest, we would wonder about a tiger) but there are no special facilities such as a cat flap so making sure their needs are met would be entirely your responsibility.
Do you allow smoking at Ghyll Pool?
Yes. Smokers are welcome at Ghyll Pool.
Do you allow children at Ghyll Pool?
Children are most welcome and this is an ideal place for a holiday with young children, being very safe and with a swimming pool and table tennis for less than perfect weather.
Is Ghyll Pool safe for my children and dogs?
It is exceptionally safe. There is no traffic nearby. The living area leads on to a large deck. This may be closed with gates to stop young children and dogs wandering away so you can relax with peace of mind.
Is the location suitable for people with mobility problems?
Sadly, no. Access is down 21 steps. These have a handrail and are shallow but there is no other access.
When is Ghyll Pool available?
Our season runs from March 1st until 15th November and from December 21st to January 4th, each year. We are open at Christmas and New Year but the pool and sauna are closed at this time.
Why aren't you open for most of the winter?
Neaum Crag is in the most sensitive part of the Lake District National Park and has to close to comply with the planning conditions imposed by the Lake District National Park Authority.
Making a booking
How do we make a booking?
First of all check out the availability page.
If your chosen dates are free then send in a booking request using the contact form.
If your chosen dates are within 8 weeks of today, we will ask for payment in full. If they are more than 8 weeks away we will ask you for a 25% deposit with the balance due 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday.
What is included in the price?
The price we charge is for the cabin, not per person. Electricity is included. There is no charge for access to the swimming pool or jacuzzi. There is a small charge for use of the sauna and laundry facilities.
Do you require a damage deposit?
We do not take a damage deposit. However, in making a booking you accept responsibility for any damage caused by you or any member of your party and agree to indemnify us in full for any loss that we may incur as a result. Please note that in the event that any keys issued are not returned at the end of your stay, then the cost of replacement will charged to you. Please treat the facilities & accommodation with due care so that other guests may continue to enjoy them. In the event that you notice damage in your accommodation please let us know immediately so that we can take appropriate action. Accommodation will be inspected at the end of the holiday & you may be charged for any loss or damage found.
What if I have to cancel?
If you cancel your booking more than 8 weeks before it is due to start then your deposit will be forfeit. If you cancel less than 8 weeks prior to the holiday then the full balance remains due and is not refundable. We strongly recommend that you take out suitable holiday insurance. If you choose not to do so then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to your cancellation.
Does the cost of our holiday include insurance?
No. It is your responsibility to arrange suitable insurance, if you wish.
The practical details
How do I get there?

Where do I park my car?
We have a designated space for two cars near the top of the steps leading down to our cabin. There is other space on the site for visitors' cars.

The key is available in a key box by the door. We will send you details of this with directions before your arrival.

What time can we arrive at Ghyll Pool
We have arranged with our cleaners that the lodge is available from 3pm on the day of arrival. Please do not arrive earlier or leave later than indicated or they will not be able to do their jobs to the high standard that we have come to expect from them.
What time do we need to leave by?
Ghyll Pool is available until 10 a.m. on the day of departure. Please do not leave later than this as our caretakers need to get access to be able to clean for the next guests. You must ensure you leave the key in the key box.
What facilities are there at Neaum Crag
Neaum Crag is not a commercial site: all the cabins are privately owned. It has no bar or restaurant or clubhouse with organised entertainment. The emphasis is on peace and getting away from it all. There are numerous excellent pubs and restaurants nearby. More detailed information is available in the Information Folder when you arrive.
The communal building has a small swimming pool with a jacuzzi and sauna, a shop selling basic necessities, a coin operated laundry & table tennis.
When is the swimming pool open?
It is open every day from 9am to 9pm. There is no lifeguard so the safety and supervision of children is the responsibility of those in charge of them.
Staying in touch
Will my mobile phone work at Ghyll Pool?
The signal is patchy on all four primary networks but it is usually possible to get a signal somewhere close by and the situation is improving. There is a payphone in the communal building and it will accept incoming calls.
What about internet acess?
The is wi fi acess in the communal building and there are also points for a wired connection. The site manager is happy to help people gain access so you do not need to be cut off from the internet.
There is something else I need to know.
