This walk, just over the hill from Ghyll Pool, captures everything that makes the Lake District so special. It combines fells, woodland, river and lakeside paths with superb views and an interesting and historic village. Wordsworth lived in or near Grasmere for most of his adult life, an area so beautiful he described it as, 'The most loveliest spot that man hath found'. Grasmere is therefore a place of literary pilgrimage but even without these associations it would be a honey pot for tourists due to its central position and lovely setting. So, on parts of this walk you will probably meet other walkers but other sections are less well trod and more peaceful.
