We have noticed an increase in demand for short breaks and we have decided to respond to this by offering a few very special weekends every year, which we are calling Get Away Breaks. They are designed to make getting away for a relaxing break in the Lake District very easy because we take care of the catering.
We shall only offer a few of these weekends each year, announced by email. Please contact us if you would like to be added to the mailing list.
Arrive on Friday evening and enjoy a delicious dinner and a relaxed and cosy evening at Ghyll Pool. On Saturday, perhaps a walk to the pub for lunch followed by a swim and sauna before a well earned snooze. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs in easy reach for dinner or how about a meal and cinema ticket at Zeffirelli's in Ambleside? Or, if you wish, order a second meal from us. On Sunday, maybe enjoy a scenic stroll round Loughrigg Tarn before sadly leaving at your leisure – no need to be out by 10am. Ghyll Pool is yours for the whole day and even stay Sunday night for the same price if you can.
Of course, these are only suggestions. There is so much to do including a wealth of walks from the door, golf, fishing, riding, cruising the lakes as well as just relaxing in these beautiful surroundings.

What's for dinner?
We offer three menus, which vary from time to time. One will always be vegetarian and another will feature local produce – just choose the one you fancy – and each is accompanied by a bottle of wine.
Just a few points to note:
* Meals must be ordered in advance.
* All guests must choose the same menu as we do not have extensive facilities.
* We may need to substitute items due to local availability.
What about breakfast?
All the ingredients for two tasty breakfasts will be waiting for you when you arrive. Choose between a full English of bacon and egg with all the trimmings or a lighter breakfast of fruit and croissants – or maybe one of each.
What else is included?
We will also supply tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits together with salt and pepper. Tea towels will also be provided and the beds made up. There is, of course, a TV and DVD player and a good selection of books as well as guide books and maps so all you need to bring are your personal items.
How much does it cost?
Our special weekend costs £220 for two people and each extra person is £20, including children. Remember there is no extra charge for pets and heating is included.
What time can I arrive – and leave?
You may arrive any time after 3pm on the Friday, or perhaps earlier by special arrangement. Ghyll Pool is yours until 10am on the Monday.
Can I stay longer?
If Ghyll Pool is available we are delighted to make longer bookings. Just contact us to discuss your requirements.
Can I book this any other weekend?
Perhaps. It depends on many factors but it is always worth asking.
Weekends at Ghyll Pool
We all know the advantages of self-catering. It is so much more relaxed and comfortable than staying in a hotel. You may fancy a lie-in until 11am but breakfast is only served, with guests fully dressed, until 9.30am and the maid is wanting to do your room. Somehow, there isn't the same comfort dozing in front of the TV in a hotel lounge or having to sit on uncomfortable chairs in your bedroom. Children and, in particular, dogs can be a worry in a hotel with the latter often banished to the car for the whole weekend.
On the other hand, self-catering for a weekend break can be hard work too. By the time you have bought and packed up all the food you need a break to recover!
Our special weekends are designed to get round all that because we do the catering. Your delicious dinner ready and waiting to pop in the microwave or oven when you arrive at Ghyll Pool together with all you need for breakfast for two days as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. All you need to do is throw a few clothes and your toothbrush in the car and you are ready to go
